“ANTOLOZI DESEN”
Dates: 01 March 2024 until May 2024

Radegonde told that it took over six years to complete this cycle of work and that "this exhibition is showing various aspects of Seychelles culture and history such as slavery and poverty - things that people do not really like to talk about." The artist uses the Arte Povera style , which originated from Italy in the 1960s, whereby most of these artists use commonplace materials that can bring a pre-industrial age such as earth, rocks, clothing, paper and rope.

Rene Rietmeyer, the President of the European Cultural Centre, had this to say recently about Leon Radegonde:
“Today Contemporary Art is most often an intellectual challenge for the artist, trying to stimulate the further intellectual development of mankind. But most and for all, Contemporary Art must have integrity. Quality art must be a 100% reflection of the artist. Not made to please the public but made to express the artist’s personality and character as honest and sincere as possible. Sometimes quality Art is not mainly intellectual, but more a direct emotional reflection of the artist; an expression of the dialogue between the artist and the culture he grew up in, and this concept is attributable to Leon. Like very few world class artists before and around him, Leon is real, there is nothing fake about him and his art works. For me, Leon is the first quality Contemporary Artist in the history of the country of Seychelles, hopefully inspiring many others to follow.”
