Satini

Another dish that is completely unique to Seychelles, satini is essentially a salad. But unlike most other salads in the world, this one is made using a medley of seafood which is then mashed and mixed with a variety of fruits and spices. Most commonly served with lime, onions, blimbi (local fruit), papaya, apple, chilli and lots of turmeric - which gives satini its yellow appearance. Such is the popularity of this local delicacy, you’ll find it in almost every creole restaurant as an accompaniment to your main course.

Satini in Seychelles refers to a type of salad, comprising finely grated ingredients. These can be unripe fruits like papaya or golden apple, mixed with spices and onions, or even ground fish like shark. It can also have quite a lot of chilli, so be prepared for a spicy kick!
