Eaten either as a sweet or savoury dish, ladob is a local staple in the Seychelles. With the dessert version typically consisting of ripe plantain, sweet potatoes or breadfruit, which is then boiled with coconut milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla until the fruit is soft and the sauce is creamy. The savoury version, meanwhile, will usually be made with salted fish and is cooked the same (but with salt instead of sugar).
